There was a lot going on in Ferropolis, the city of iron near Leipzig! Following last year's success, Hornbach – together with the Real Guys – once again invited guests to the Macher Festival in August. Of course, we were also there to take community building in combination with experience marketing to a whole new level. The backdrop of old excavators, green forest, dusty construction sites, open workshops and festival grounds couldn't have been more perfect for creative DIYers and, of course, selected manufacturers and other industry players. Our colleagues Octavian Dragnea and Christian Rewerski were there on our behalf.
‘Here you meet thousands of like-minded people who want to build, tinker, be creative together and get their hands dirty with real tools. Whether you're holding a cordless screwdriver for the first time or have already built a house, everyone learns something new at the Macher Festival,’ said our sales representative.
Around 8,000 participants took advantage of the perfect weather to visit the festival grounds and work together on their construction projects. The Macher Festival quickly became Germany's largest DIY workshop, with over 35 workstations, more than 17,000 workplaces and countless completed projects.
It is already certain that there will be another Maker Festival next year. ‘Our products were in high demand,’ says Octavian. ‘Almost everyone needed angles, hinges, box fittings, perforated sheets, etc. for their project. In addition, the fact that we were available to offer advice and, in some cases, developed many unconventional ideas through creative exchanges was extremely well received.’
